Eligibility For Medical Visa From Maldives To India 

The Indian government, in a notification in 2021, had declared the Maldives a visa-free nation, i.e., the citizens of Maldives would not require a visa to India for medical treatments, tourism, and business purposes. The criteria are: 

• You should be traveling specifically for medical treatment. 

• The patient should hold a standard passport (no diplomatic or other Passport). 

• The Passport should be valid for at least six months (beyond your intended stay in India). 

• The Passport should also have at least two blank pages for stamping purposes. 

• The patient should seek care at a reputable, renowned, or specialized hospital or healthcare facility in India. 

• The patient can have up to two attendants with them. They could be members of their family or close friends. 

• The patient should have a VIL (Visa Invitation Letter) from the institute where they will seek the treatment. 

A Visa for Commissioning Surrogacy is NO longer permitted.

Requirements For Medical Visa To India From Maldives 

If the patient decides to stay in India for more than 90 days, then the person would require a proper visa to enter India. The requirements for the Indian medical visa are as follows: 

• An electronic scan of the first page of the visitor’s Passport 

• Copy of the visitor’s recent passport-style color photo (with white background) 

• A working email address 

• A copy of your medical insurance policy. 

• A hotel booking confirmation or a letter from your host confirming your accommodation in India. 

• Documentation of Residence 

• Worker identification card 

• Bank statement for the last three months in the name of the applicant or an Affidavit, along with a bank statement of the sponsor who will bear the expenses. 

• Filled out completely and accurately on the application for a medical visa. 

• Preliminary medical advice from a Maldivian Doctor/Hospital, along with all the investigatory reports 

• Copy of a letter from the Indian Hospital the visitor would be seeking treatment from (VIL). 

• Copy of registration (only for people who have stayed more than six months previously in India)

How to Apply 

Following is the procedure for the application for a medical visa from Maldives to India (whenever required). 

STEP 1: 

Fill up the online visa application form: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html  

 NOTE: Please ensure the photo is a recent passport-size photograph (2” x 2”) with a white background. 

Uploading of photographs is mandatory. 

STEP 2: 

Take a printout of the filled form and affix one passport size (2” x 2”) with a white background on the first page of the printed visa application form. 

NOTE: Ensure that the application is signed in two places – on the first page below the photograph and the last page 

STEP 3: 

Please submit the printed visa application form and fee (Click here for the Visa fee schedule). The following documents are at the Visa Counter of the High Commission of India, Male’ on any working day between 0930 and 1200 MHT (GMT +5). 

• Original Passport and Photocopy
• Copy of ID card (Maldivians) or Work Permit card/visa (for foreign nationals)

Medical Visa Processing Fees From Maldives To India 

There is no Visa fee for a medical visa from Maldives to India except in case of emergency Visa applications, wherein ރ 590 or $38.31 is charged as an Emergency Visa Fee.
