Ventricular assist device (VAD)

The procedure involves adding a Ventricular assist device (VAD) which helps in the blood flow from the lower part of the heart to the rest of the body.

It’s an implantable mechanical device that helps in the pumping of blood from the lower chambers of the heart. Ventricular assist device (VAD) is used only when the individual’s heart is weaker or has failed.

Although the procedure of Ventricular assist device (VAD) can be carried out on either side of the lower chambers of the heart, based on the location, it’s determined as left or right ventricular assist device (VAD). Another great advantage about Ventricular assist device (VAD) is that it assists the heart to pump blood effectively and makes it stronger till the point it can pump blood on its own.

Ventricular assist device (VAD) can be implanted into your heart if you are facing some critical heart issues and are not a great candidate for a heart transplant.
